Umbria, the only landlocked region in Italy, is noted for its wonderful hill towns, outstanding meats, truffles and mushrooms it is known as the green heart of Italy. Wine has been produced in Orvieto since the time of the Etruscans 2 millennia ago.  A white wine to drink with antipasti and light primi and especially with fish.

Look out for red Sagrantino di Montefalco; the sagrantino vine is grown only in this area and is one of the best red wines of Italy – you may have to visit Umbria to taste it – but do search it out!  Follow this link for more information on this amazing wine.
