Friuli Venezia Giulia has a fascinating and complex gastronomy because it has been invaded or passed through by many different peoples; situated where three cultures meet – Venetian, Austro-Hungarian and Slav.  the cuisine is also divided into simple mountain food, peasant cooking from the plains, sophisticated city dishes and the cooking of the sea.
